front brake replacement coming up - upgrade advice

Post by nickpolo »

righyho, vw informed me today when i had my car serviced that the front discs and pads would need replacing shortly.

i would like to do the 280 upgrade, just me and my dad doing it, could someone who has done it themselves please advise?

is it easy? what parts do we need, if you have part nos and prices from vagparts or vw please could you help me out?

also should i be looking at different discs and pads to the stock ones for the 280 upgrade, or are vw normal parts okay?

thanks guys

did a search, and tigz says in one post that
You have to fit some small spacers to the wheel hubs as the calliper fowls the wheel slightly.
Nothing major though, only a few quid and will help pull the wheels out to give a sweeter look.
so now i'm worried, i didnt think it required any mods and just slid straight in?

Have you got a link to the thread that was posted in?

As far as I was aware, 280mm discs fit under the standard 15" wheels fine.

VAG Parts have them here but are expensive try eBay or a local scrapyard. Don't think you need spacers as one of the member here fitted them without spacers. As for brake pads stick some Black Diamond ones on
