LOOKING FOR A LAPTOP

Post by RICHARD HARPER »

I am in process of looking for a new computer, laptop preferably.

I'm going to be using it for the net, my i-pod, digital camera, few games, video and music downloads etc etc.

What do people on here suggest ?

Without spending silly money.

I've seen a laptop with a 120gb hd,1024mb ram, widescreen, card reader, wireless, bluetooth, vista premium etc etc for £620.

What you guys think ?

And what operating system is worth going for ?

Vista Basic ?
Vista Premium ?
Vista Business ? or
Vista Ultimate ?

I've had a look at dell as well but all this gigabyte etc etc is going over my head

Help Guys ! !

:D

Right. To begin i'd suggest any make except advent and HP/compaq :P customer service is disgraceful.

The specs you have listed are a good set, but you must look for an intel core duo/ core 2 duo or a higher end AMD chip (such as dinos :)). By no means go for a celeron as they are slow, and cant process as much as a pentium mobile/core duo etcetc

As for OS, Vista Premium should do you just fine. Ultimate is really nothing special - ive got it and i cant find any differences between that and premium.

Dell is a good make. My last one was a dell, but ive switched to a macbook now as apples just work and dont get viruses 8)
