Spec changes (I know we've done this before)

I know we discussed the spec changes a little while ago.
But what things have people actually gained/lost out on because of the spec changes?

When I ordered mine, an 'S' didn't come with A/C but you could pay the extra to get an 'S A/C'. Now an S does come with A/C!

The S now comes with Split folding rear seat - not that I'm bothered about that

The S used to come with Driver's and front passenger's seat height adjustment and Driver's and front passenger's under seat drawer, but not anymore.

Add to that the price drops.....

Oh well!!! Could buy one now and say the same thing in 6 months.

Ordered mine for 1st March 2002 (nearly a year now!!!)
1st one was duff so spent loads time/money getting replacement.

Then, once got replacement (month or so later) read in mag. that they now came with CD player and small leather pack as standard. Wasn't so bothered about CD as I heard 6 disc ones jam and I already had one (even though paid £££ to dealer for it). Was upset about leather pack as really wanted that at time but would have been factory order...

Then....if that didn't rub it in enough...VW go an reduce the price by £800 odd so not only is it cheaper and better specified, but it pushes price of new cars down!!!

Really dissapointed with VW and I really doubt I will by another! Not only price/spec changes but also lack of build quality. I like my car and everything, but will not 4get hassle I had in long while!!

I'm totally with TDI on this one.

I lost out on a CD player, but got the half-leather as I was just on the point of the first set of changes. I suppose you could say I've also lost out on the fabled aero rear wiper (but I haven't seen one anywhere yet).

But I'm not so much worried about the spec changes as the reduction in prices.

See my comments about being offer 10k for my car just after christmas, and 8k a couple of weekends ago. The dealer's argument was structured around the greatly reduced cost (well, about 1 grand) for my car if I was to buy it new todays, verses what I paid for it back in August.

Well i got the car cheap and it has pretty much come with everything i was expecting, apart from the chrome instrument surrounds.
Oh, and the puddle lights, apparently.
Oh, and a factory trained dealership.

Well, my wife has just bought a new Polo S which we pick up on Sunday. Managed to get one of the "old spec" so we get the height adjustable seats, though I'm not sure what else is included

Once we have it, I'll have a poke around and see...

Great site by the way, you guys really are interested in developing your cars!

and to the rest of you the reason why the car gets better and cheeper is cos they want you to buy from them so you want a better spec and you get it from them but not from joe 6 month old 2nd hand and the price is cheeper because it is no longer a new car its been around a few months so people are not buying them on impulse and they need to be bribed with a lower price
if you think theese are big changes wait 6 months and then look at a toureg because the price reduction isnt £800 its a % of the price and seen as the toureg is much more expensive the % remaining the same will give a bigger discount

abiout the chrome surrounds i might be able to get kits so that you can add your own which would mean any polo from start of mk6 to date

I was VERY lucky when I ordered my car..

Ordered mine (Polo 1.2 S) May 1st 2002, at the end of may they added air con and the leather pack and reduced the price by £325 (I believe). So my car has all the nice bits on it for about £9300 new
