Another Smooth Bumper Question
How did you guys get your bumper smoothed? A guy I know doesn't do plastic welding but fills it with some fibreglass filler type stuff. He said he couldn't guarantee it though. He quoted £300-350 to smooth the front and rear bumpers and colour code my splitter

Agreed fibreglass will look gash.
It'll either sink or crack
Theres a few places in Aberdeen do plastic welding Mouse.
PAINT TEKNIK
and
CRAIGSHAW AUTOBODY (i think, call them)
You'll get there numbers in phone book and there both in Tullos around corner from each other which is a boost
It may be worthwhile texting or private messaging Phil Watson (Deevub)with the red polo to see where he got his bumpers smoothed.

The expanding foam was (i thought) a good idea. And it did the job perfect. Only (i've still not quite worked out why) it continued to expand way after it was set. I believe it was probably the heat from the summer.
I've now dug out all the foam on the front and started bonding in strips of plastic as an in fill. When i've done the complete bumper it'll be skimmed with plastic filled and flatted back. This should in theory be a more successful idea than the last. Shall show pics when its complete.

Checked out 4 bodyshops today. The 2 that Richard mentioned - one was closed, and the other was too expensive and used filler type stuff. My Dad said they were crap too. Check out another two and one used just fibreglass, whilst the other would use fibreglass/filler. Plastic welding a rare thing or something?
