GTI Fuel Pumps...

Post by dubbprince »

Is there a major difference in fuel pressure between the 1.4 16v 100bhp model and the GTI 125bhp fuel pumps?

I'm wondering whethere i can carry on using my 1.4 16v fuel pump on the GTI engine. :?

could someone please check as i have no idea...Thanks! Sanj.

I don't think anybody knows TBH, not many people have put a GTI engine in another car. I will look up the part numbers for you to see if that sheds any light I would expect the GTI to have a higher flowing pump but the 16v pump would problay have enough headroom to feed the GTI engine.

thanks dave, much appreciated mate...i do get the idea not many GTI owners actually know about their engine/ancilleries lol.
But muchos gracias for your help bud...

My neighbour seems to believe the fuel pump will be designed to provide more pressure than usual and the ECU regulates the pressure for the injectors...so if thats the case, then i can carry on using my 1.4 fuel pump.

But for the sake of about £50 its not worth the hassle of starving the GTI engine of fuel...

If your able to find out how much pressure the GTI engine needs, then i might be able to find out how much the 1.4 16v needs and sort sommit out lol.
For the sake of 200cc i don't think they changed the pressure output on the pump, just the connector style.

Have had a look on etka, its really confusing as to what pump fits what, whats the engine code off your old engine? From what i can work out there both 3bar, but don't quote me on that. If you can bare with me till tommorrow i can check on autodata and see what it lists, though i'll need that code. Is your gti lump an avy or arc?

I see another pint coming soon!

hahaha...yeah another bloody pint is on your way. I reckon i'll just drop some date rape in there and knock you out lol...then you'll think you've had a fair few...no raping though...lol...

The old 1.4 16v was coded AFH
The new engine code is ARC

Fingers crossed they are both 3 bar!! :D

DITTO on that, was just looking and its a bit of nightmare tracing the pump each model has. Just came to ask the engine codes but you bet me to it.

whats the betting they are both 3 bar...worse comes to worse i'll just find a VR pump and use a fuel pressure regulator to slow the flow down...that'll mean i'm all set to go down the turbo route.
