Fuel consumption

Post by tornado_ally »

Hey guys, I was just wondering how thirsty the Polo GTi is and how many miles it can do on a full tank. I do about 360 miles topps on a full tank after lots of beeping! my record is 383 until the double beep. Dont try that though!

Beep???? Guess I've never let it get that low!

Full tank will get me on average 300 miles (depending on how much I rag it, which is quite a lot!

Lowest = 260 miles
Highest = 330 miles

Lowest 230 when cam belt tensioner bust

Highest was 330 when the temperature sensor bust

Normally I get between 250 and 275 (I live out in the hills, so I don't get to stick her in 5th for long periods)...

Theres a beep? I didn't realise there was one...I thought once all the juice is gone you are stuck!

I always measure it from full to just when it reaches the red on the fuel sensor...not sure if that is what everyone else means...

I've done the most, 310 miles till the red marker and the lowest, 250 miles.

As far as I know, there is no beep on the GTi.

I measure mine from full to when the orange "low petrol" light comes on.

There's Definitely a beep on mine when the low pertol light comes on. Though it's only ever happened once as I'm fairly paranoid about running out of fuel. Plus I've noticed that it's very easy to provoke lift-off oversteer when the petrol tanks near empty (probably due the the lack of weight at the back of the car) Which is fun but too dangerous at this time of year 8)

Hmmm...interesting...I've not heard a beep when the light comes on...but then I always have my stereo on full...may be it could be to do with something about the set up of the ECU or your model year?

Spend a lot of time to and from work in traffic so 300+ mpg is but a dream. :cry:

Never heard a fuel level beep on mine (2001 model year)
