Testdrove a GTI....have a couple of questions...

Post by tegwin »

Testdrove a GTI for the second time today (two different cars)...I was mainly impressed although there are a few niggly little things that are putting me off

This is one of them:

When looking from the front of the car the gap between the headlight and the bonnet lip was greater on the passenger side than on the drivers side...Only by about 5-10mm, but it was noticeable...Is this normal?

And also, what is the little button for on the wall behind the drivers seat?....half way up the pillar partially hidden by the seatbelt...it has a little red light on it....

Welcome.

In answer to you questions. Firstly, i'd be a little worried about the gap you mentioned, as this could be sign of a little accident the car may have been in, so i'd check inside the engine bay for anything that looks a little off! Although it could just be that the bumper has been removed to put new sidelights in and not been put back correctly!

Second, the little button you describe i believe is something to do with the alarm/immobiliser! Am sure someone can clarify this!

Yep, the little button turns on or off the internal alarm sensors, useful if you leave kids or pets or some such in the car and then lock it. :)
