Help CV Joints

Post by aldo10 »

Guys, I wonder if you could help me.
Is there a known problem with getting CV joints for the GTI. My car has been in the garage for the last week and they have tried 8 different ones all said to be for the "GTI" but none of them fitted. They have now ordered them from Volkswagen so hopefully all should be well and I should get the car back tomo. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Sounds like your garage doesn't have a clue. I'd take it somewhere else.

CV joints are a common replaced part on any car and shouldn't present a problem.

very strange, it's not like they are hard to get.

Could it be possible that the car has had a replacement gearbox from a non gti, and that the CV joints were also removed from the donor car and added to yours?

I'm almost certain the CV joints on the GTi will be uprated over other models, else they wouldnt last long.

Got the correct ones form VW. They said they are different and a few garages have had problems locating the correct ones from non vw dealers. But got it sorted and back on the road today driving like a dream again :D :D :D .

Cheers for the suggestions tho 8)
