Cheers chris.

Best place for filler will be brown brothers (unipart) or hickley valtone. Any good automotive paint supplier ought to do it.

Still dunno what to do with this back bumper. May have to slit it and weld in some little triangles. Any ideas appreciated!

Ok, so front bumper is nearly done. Rear bumper i havent even looked at yet. Am dreading that one.

This is how the bumper looked t'other day, has since had some filler slapped on it, needs flatting back though.

All thats left on the car is finishing the front bumper, doing rear bumper, welding up the tailgate handle (again) and welding up the seam lines (they cracked!) Then its off to the workshop to be sprayed three times (base, pearl, laquer).

A few other points. Gonna try get the tailgate welded up along with the swage lines on saturday morning. Have an interesting idea regarding a boot handle, it was initially gonna be a mk5 golf handle, but someone beat me too it (damn you silky!) so it'll be a tad different.

Indeed i will be spraying it myself. I try to do everything myself. I wont be doing the welding as i'm not good enough. I have a friend with a garage in exmouth, and he's doing the stuff i struggle on and letting me use his place for spraying. Unless you wanna spray if foc that is!

Twas p*ss easy. I used pu sealer (for panel bonding) and some strips of plastic. Just screwed them in place while it was setting then took the screws out.

Today we smoothed the tailgate. Did it by seam welding a plate where the handle was. Light skimming of filler and its complete. Also we welded up the rear seem lines (the ones under the rear lights) and have smoothed them out nicely. Next on the agenda is the rear bumper, then on to the sideskirts. A few dents here and there to be dealt with and then in for spray time take 2.

so when you smooth the bits under the rear lights (the water gutters) does this become a probleem in any way ? as in water wise because i thought that is what lets the water out

Bit of an update. Whipped the door off at the weekend as it was catching on the skirt causing chafage. Adjusted it and all is fine now.

Image

Front bumpers had its hopefully final spread of filler. One rear arch/bumper corner nearly complete. Rear seam lines have final spread of filler, and boot has final spread on it.

Not too much left to do but gotta get it all sorted for e38 so in a bit of a panic!
