IIRC speedos aren't made to be dead on.

With them being 5mph out you're always going slower than you think (e.g if you're doing 30 then chances are you're really doing 25/26)

You could be a safer driver doing 130 than someone doing 60, but if you have a blow out, it doesn't matter how safe a driver you are doing 130

TBH I would never do 130 with anyone else in the car. First of all I would probably get a smack off my mates (thank fu*k they are sensible) and second of all my car probably wouldn’t even reach that speed.

Yes I have to admit; since I got the GTI conversion I have put the pedal to metal a bit. I also admit that speeding in the car at the time was stupid, irresponsible and reckless. But honestly, how many people on here have driven in a reckless manner previously?

However I don’t drive like this constantly, even though that is no excuse and I am still putting other members of the public at risk. I do understand the potential consequences of driving like this and try to kerb my urges of driving in such a way. The fun factor of the engine has died down a lot which means I don’t feel the need to push the car.

Also, anytime I have hit 100plus on the motorway this has been late at night when I am hurrying to get home after a night out and there are practically no cars at all. Yes I am putting my life at risk here but at least I am not endangering members of the public, although I have to admit there is no excuse for this. At times like this I should really think about the fact: I would rather get home in one piece, than not at all!!
