Polo HID headlights in europe.....ARGHHHH

Post by tegwin »

Im taking my shiny GTI on a road trip down to the south of France...

Im aware that I need to do something about the dipped beam on the headlights...however....After reading some articles on the web it appears that the usual stick on "beam deflectors" dont actually work on HID's....

Instead it claims that most HID equiped cars have a little lever on the back of each light unit that moves a shutter across the projector lens to move the beam...

Does anyone know if the polo has this lever, and if so...where the heck is it?

Would be handy if I did have a little lever...save the effort, money and mess of sticking bits of crap to my headlights...

Yeah beam deflectors won't work. I looked at my xenon light, couldn't see any lever - i have it out of the car so i had a proper look, no sign.

I've read (on hid-planet) about people taking A6 xenons apart (basically the same as Polo GTi xenons) and swapping the shields inside the projector around to solve the problem. Not worth it!

Someone on club lupo moved to france with his UK lupo gti xenons and had no problems, so you can probably chance it

Hmmm...

A bit of plastic stuck to the lights might fool the fuz I guess....

Someone was suggesting that you could get on VAG COM and simply change the angle of the lights sepperately...so the left hand light is angled down more than usual and the right hand light slightly up.....That counteracted the glare you get... But it sounds complicated and as I dont have VAG...im fooked lol...
