Fubared splitter on the way back from No Rice

Post by Bryony84 »

Firstly, it could have been worse - visual damage is only slight - would pic up pics but my camera is being stupid and won't let me put them on the computer!

On the way back down the A3, following my bf's golf - road was closed and coned off so I was pulling across with the rest of the traffic to go up the slip road and follow a diversion. Suddenly see something large to my left and don't have the time or space to avoid it. Whatever it is hits the far left hand side of the car with a loud bang.

Wasn't far from home and figured if I'd ripped the splitter off i'd notice, so carried on - heard an odd noise going round roundabouts and found out what it was when I got home and took a look. Whatever I hit had ripped the underside corner off my splitter and it had been rolled back on itself so it was dragging along the ground.

Had to cut it off with a hacksaw when I got back - thankfully visual damage is only a couple of scuffs on the splitter, but the entire flap thing underneath is completely gone. Luckily I have another splitter to put on when I get my bumpers done!!!

Still don't know what I hit though, thoughts were possibly a cone (although these are reflective and a distinctive shape) or something which may have fallen from the pickup that was in front of my bf's golf (he didn't see anything at all!). Don't think it was an animal luckily as there was no sign of blood or fur!

Thats why my front splitter isn't painted or smoothed! Its collected a fair few scrapes and scars over the last 8 months

Well it definately wasn't a backbox  I've decided not to get my splitter coded anymore as it won't stay good looking for long
