for pure pleasure i think it would have to be the g40 but u gotta look at some factors such as mileage of the block, and being a fast little car, most g40 have been ragged!
gotta see if the supercharger has had a rebuild or not, if not then it may be wise to get it done before the engine goes into the bay!
i would have thought that either engine would go into the caddy fairly easily but i'm far from an expert so someone else should be able to give a better answer!

i would imagine either engine would fit. i mean, i've seen mk1 golfs with G40 engines and i'm guess they are pretty much the same bay!

if i were you i'd go for the G40 engine! plenty more grunt than a GT. if you were going for an normally aspirated engine, i'd imagine something a bit bigger than a 1.3 would be required!

Well don't think its a wise move

Apart from needing new driveshafts there will be just too much weight to make the transplant worth while

Reason why the G40 is so responsive because the polo body weighs next to nothing.

Putting that tiny engine into a caddy will not get as much benefit

I would opt for a bigger engine in my opinion then your not going to blow out many gearboxs or clutchs

Hope that helps
