Starter motor

Post by randy »

Starter motor packed in last night. Having to push start the car everytime i stop somewhere doesnt appeal to me!!

Going to have a look to see if i can source a starter motor on monday, been advised i can use any starter motor from any same model of polo?? Can anyone back this up for me?

Also i need some tips on how to remove the motor as in my car it seems really awkward to get to.

Thanks
Randy

Tis an absolute b*stard of a job, its right at the back under the inlet manifold. You'll need a combination of going from the top and underneath the car.

Any starter for a 1.4/1.6 6n or 6n2 should in theory fit, as long as the wiring is the same. I'd just ring euro and get a recon unit, they're only £80

this happened to me. Changed the motor and it still would not start. Turned out to be ignition switch. Now thats hard work!

The hardest part is locating all the bolts and negotiating your way around the cables and hoses etc to undo them, and then try and relocate the holes afterwards....It is doable, but its not fun!
