Just picked them up, they are HUGE, i put them next to the car, and there is no way i could have run them on those tyres...no way at all.
Annoyingly, they're all Toyo Proxes, 2 which are basically brand new, and still have all the markings on the tread, i'd guess about 8-9mm, and the other two are 3-4mm.
How much do you guys think would be a fair kind of asking price, preferably Buy It Now, on ebay? I was thinking £150 for all four?
Thanks
Ell

ok, well, as soon as i get £200, ill have the 225s off...and onto ebay, and put the 205s on,
gonna give them a bit of a clean tomorrow, see how they come up.
out of interest, the car isnt lowered, so how much arch gap will i get on 205/40/17s? i really hope it wont be too 4x4 esque, but im expecting the worst...

Im 19 and my insurance company had no problems with the coilies. Just aslong as you say to them that its not lower than 50mmLowPoloCo. wrote:ohh right, so in your opinion...needs lowering say..........35mm? on springs
bare in mind im only 17, so insurance is a factor. i think my insurance dont mind about alloys, and these are standard VW issue...on a 4 motion golf, but springs might be harder to blag.
is it going to look a bit stupid?

Ok guys, so i got the 205/40/17s, thanks for all the advice, now looking into getting the wheels refurbed, they have a LOT of brake dust corrosion, i think the bloke who had them on his 1998 Golf 4 Motion never cleaned them once!
....golf drivers...

To get them sand-blasted and re-painted, is an average cost going to be about £50 per wheel? David, you got your Comps refurbed didnt you? How bad were they?
Thanks again guys,
Ell,
also, what do you guys think of how it looks?

you'd be right mate, the next plan is a 40mm drop, if the parents dont flip at the alloys, my mum hasnt been too bad, she thinks it looks good. but my dad is in the navy on a ship, and is always away, so i have to send him an email with these pictures to tell him what ive done.
I pressumed that the people who were doing the refurbing would have removed the tyres, and then put them back on?
if not, thats gonna b a huge pain.
thanks
