Help!! Wheels?!?

Post by MW »

I just bought a 1.2 2004 polo but it didnt come with alloys?!?!

Where is the best place to get alloys from?

And how do i know if they will fit my car before i go shelling out loads of money??

And one more question.... what does it mean when they say they come balanced??

your best to look for alloye on e bay mate

your after ones which are

5x100 (means 5 stud and 100 mm across the studs)
et 35-38 (offset, of mounting distance from centre of the wheel)
and probably 14, 15, 16, or 17 inch depending on personal choice on wheel size

and balanced means the wheel and tyre have been on a machine which simulates the wheel driving, if the wheel is not "balanced" it will make the steering wheel wobble under speed and judder, so weights are stuck on the insides of the wheel to "balance" it

hope this helps

Thanks mate!

You have helped loads.

does having 17" not effect the steering of the car like scraping when you turn corners??

Thanks

it shouldnt do on stock suspension no, but if you lower more than 40 mm it may catch on full lock

my gti is lowered about 45 - 50 mm all round on the standard 16" gti wheels and it only just catches on full lock, not all the time though

if your going for 17's the tyres you will need are 205x40x17

and

if your going for 16's the tyres you will need are 205x45x16
