Engine Change? Cost/Duration/Aircon

Post by MaxZ »

Been told today that my car needs a new engine, apparently the one that's in it now has decided to turn oval instead of circular, so there's no point in reconstructing the head.
How much am I looking at paying?
How long is it roughly going to take?
Will the engine carry over aircon to the new one?

Hmm my friend brought a Polo GTi engine for his Mk4 Polo, I think it cost around £400 - £600 for a engine plus gearbox. So maybe around £400 for just the engine.

It shouldn't take too long to fit as it would be the same engine going back in, just a case of replacing everything taken out.

The aircon system should be able to stay or swapped however you want.

What makes it even worse is that as soon as I got it I've had the cambelt/waterpump changed over, thats 300 quid down the drain!

Wont take you long at all max....if you find a gti engine with all the same stuff like aircon etc it'll just be a case of disconnecting, removing, fitting and reconnecting......no worries about looms etc as thats where most of my time etc went
