Quickshift question...

Post by tegwin »

Having driven my polo for several thousand miles im beggining to notice that the gearchange takes to long and requires in my opinion way to much movement of the stick for a sporty car...

I have noticed a couple of you on here talking about quickshift kits....

I understand the principle of how they work, BUT...

Do they affect getting the car into gear in anway... for example, I quite often struggle to downchange from 5th to 4th...I end up hitting the edge of the 'gate' between 4th and 2nd which is a pain in the arse...does a quickshift kit do anything to resolve this?

And generally which kits do people recomend?

The

B&M is the only one i know of which is what i have and in all fairness it is a really really good gear change if your accurate. 1st gear, you have to ensure the clutch is fully engaged and the only gear ivfound a bit tougher is 2nd into 3rd but personally i feel the shorter stiffer change has left a smaller margine of error so if giving it welly like up the 1/4 mile you could miss a gear, but the advantages are a much quicker time if you nail them.

Gread mod imo :D

Same as Phil for me. Clutch has got to be right down to the floor for first, even if it is 0.5mm off the ground you will have to take it out and put it back in. You do get used to it though
