Is there anyone in our area who will do porting and stuff, or is it a case of sending down the bits

Someone had an interesting point the other day...

You can spend hundreds of pounds having your engine tuned to gain anoter 15Hp...

Or you can take out the back seats, spare wheel, all those heavy speakers and air con unit for free and imediatley feel a difference...

I think that trying to increase the power of a polo gti will cause you nowt but trouble - the gearbox can't even handle the standard 125bhp. The more you give it, the quicker the gearbox is going to fail

Absolutely shocking on VW for putting this excuse for a gearbox in such a great little car

Couldn't agree more.

My plan...

Lupo gti engine and box (5 or 6speed, not bothered). Schrick cams, Ported exhaust outlets, performance cat, exhaust, ported header (thats exhaust manifold for those who dont know), megasquirt ecu/loom, oh yeah, and a garett kkk. I reckon 225bhp.

Looked into a lupo 6 speed a couple of weeks ago. They are rare as ****! And require new clutch, flywheel setup. Not as simple as throwing a box on.

Would be mint though!

Ahem, lupo engine and box. The lupo box won't mate to the polo engine at all, completely different bell housing lay out.
