Cruise Control

Post by MaxZ »

Been flicking through Awesome-GTi the other day and spotted this...

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/vw%20polomk46n2/misc.html

How would they go about putting it on? And would you say it's worth the 200 pound outlay?

Deffinately not worth it in the UK IMHO....Might be usefull on eruopean motorways though...

Its quite simple fitting it to a modern car...The throttle valve servo is already there....the brake sensor is already there....just a case of plugging in a box that can read the TPS and hold the throttle valve open until the brake or TPS moves..

I think it *would* be worth it myself.

Already been discussed here and here if you use the Search function

The search function? What's that.....

I can kind of see the attraction of cruise control, but I generally find it more suited to big, lazy automatic vehicles than little hot hatches like the GTi.

Could save your license one day in those long motorway roadwork sections (with average speed cameras) or A-road 50/40 stretches...

Get a grip....i was only havin a laugh, jesus! lighten up!

I obviously understand the advantags of them, and no i dont do alot of motorway driving, but i for one like to keep my connection to the car constant. Yeh if it was for driving huge distances maybe....like down to the polo show then maybe, but if it was a 60 min drive or less on a motorway i wouldnt bother.

Personally think it is a completely over priced mod.

And si, it wouldnt save my licens mate, cos i would just stick to the speed limit :D Plus im pretty sure there isn't any laws in scotland yet for the average speed cameras :D
