I see awfully a lot of mk1s on this forum (most from UK, I suppose) and I can't stop being amazed with it...
OK, in Germany and other countries, mostly they are restaurated and used for show....or for berg cup
But here, I see many of you buying this car for everyday use....some buying it as its first car.......I don't understand that because mentality in my country is that it is ridiciolous to drive such an old car (without abs, airbags, AC, etc.). Just to be clear, I'm not one of those, I always say that CARS stopped producing in early 90s. On the other side, mk1s/audi50s are very rare in Croatia and NEVER in good condition.
So, explain please
Why do you drive mk1s?

I dont usually drive mine every day but have been for the last month. Its really fun to drive, its not that quick but is nippy enough to keep up with normal traffic and you get so many people giving you the thunbs up or waving at you, its a really nice feeling that people appreciate all the hard work you've put into it. It just gives me a big smile whenever i drive it
