i think the 9n does look quite good and so does the smoothing the edge of the mk5 handle but personally id prefer the handle smoothed totally. thats what im getting, i got the solenoid all wired up and ready go to just gotta wait till i get money and time to take it to the body shop and get them to get rid of the handle and badge.

surely if ur key fob battery runs out dont u have a spare one? u could just ring someone and say can u bring the spare key out or failing that if ur near a shop that does the batteries then u could see if they could change the battery or u buy the battery and see of they got a small screwdriver u can use to do it yourself. i got a 5 door and was thinkign of getting the boot and 4 door handles smoothed but not sure now.

Ultimately, smoothing the handle off totally is the best looking option. I do have a second key but imagine getting locked out miles and miles from home and not being able to get in

Still, thats when the AA membership might come in handy...

I'll have a think about where a boot release could be relocated to.

Cheers

by the number plate lights!! you could (if possible), hide a whole key hole up there if you wanted to thers enough space!. I wouldn't go with teh 9N handle though, mouse said it right it just doesnt go with the car...

another idea which would be pretty cool (they may even do them not sure) is convert a push button device into the VW sign being the button!! so it would look like the mk.5 golf handle, but instead of lift and pull, you just push it. dunno how much work that wud involve tho lol

Just found this image of Saj's car with de-badged rear but handle still in place:

Looks good to me (ignore the lights and imagine rear wiper deleted) 8)

I'd go for losing the badge and keeping the original handle.

I think only the most hardcore of polo owners would notice the difference between a 9N handle and the original one. You've probably look at it so hard that you think there's such a difference.

Si, just out of interest - how much are you paying for the badge removal? (If you don't mind me asking) I got a quote for this on my car aswell as the bonnet notch filled and he said it would be around £400. This right? I thought it would be nearer £200.

mc_iver_9n, I haven't gone shopping for a quote yet, it'll be after Edition38 when I do :)

I am budgeting around the £200-250 mark as an estimate and may be having the bonnet notch on the GTi filled at the same time
