Could be the immobiliser or perhaps the fuel pump.

Would run a VAGCOM check if you can do so

What it currently looks like :

Image

Driving along on Mon night about 2am, came to a red light stopped. Engine cut out - was like hmm - tried to turn it over again and it just kept on trying to start. Phoned my dad got a tow home.

Wed night, had a look at it - tensioner failed on the timing belt - stevo took the head off it and we had a look to see what was broke.

and the hard at it assistant :

Needs:

Timing belt kit and water pump (ovi)
8 new valves , and a set of whats in pic 3 (lifters)
and time to build it back up all properly.

Not having any luck with this car atal: a van hit it, 2 gearbox rebuilds, and now this.

On a more valid up note my new headunit came today - after 2 months of arguing with the guy - so happy with that.

All the bits to fix , gaskets etc etc all come in just shy of 400 quid.

Im thinking about taking the engine out and putting in another GTI engine , that has done 35k. Its 500 quid - which could be the better option.

Bit of a c**t lol
