Curse of the jinxed GTI returns

Post by Mouse_GTI »

Just when I thought I had enough bad luck with my car being damaged....I have just arrived home and was looking out my kitchen window and saw this:

Thought I heard some sort of banging noise, just thought I was imagining it as it was so slight. More money down the pan!

Oops! :?

EDIT: forgot to add that something similar happened to my GTi on the way to Santa Pod last year for one of the GTI Festivals, except that it was the original side repeater that popped out and dangled on it's wiring, rather than the indicator! Pettsy came to the rescue with some duck tape whilst I then sourced a pair of OEM Bora crystal side repeaters on my return to town and my dealership :D

I don't know whether to just tape it up for now as my new bumper is due back soon, and I can't be bothered spending an hour fiddling about. But then I need to find out why it's happened, as it shouldn't of

looks like the bit that holds the light in place is down, so either the wire hook wasn't in or it snapped, if it wasn't in then it should be a 1 minute job just to pull up the retainer pin(you'll have to twist it to unlock it first) slide the light back in then push the retainer back down and twist. if it's snapped then get a new hook but it might have snapped the plastic bit that it attatches to so you might need a new indicator light....hope that was clear lol

Ok I had a look, you don't need the bumper off for them. The pin had actually popped up the way for some reason. I checked the other side and it seemed to secure a lot easier than the other one. As for the scratches, I managed to buff out 3/4 of them. Still annoyed at the car for being stupid

it probably wasn't locked in place you need to twist the little black bit on the top

I'm pretty sure the remainder of those scratches will machine polish out, so if you know someone with a PC, ask them if they could work their magic on it.

It's rediculous, as mine was clipped in properly too - VW's shouldn't be doing this
