That's s**t dude!! My water pump has just gone so gonna have to get that and the timing belt done, just a few months after gettin the gearbox and clutch done!!! Loosing faith in the Polo big style!!!

What a ball ache! You have a pretty assistant though
Not planning any strengthened or modified internals whilst your at the rebuild - lightened flywheel for example?

First four bent valves

The head at the start:
Valve Springs
8 bent as a row of pink tents valves
8 NEW VALVES
All Lap'd in
Before sanding the head :

Sanded and Cleaned head:
Valves were really hard to get out, so got 8 out and 8 lapd in. The other 8 are getting done tomorro. Ran out of time - 2nite took from 5pm to half 9!!
Job done so far.

Ahhh, the trusty bent valve trick!
Lapping in the new valves is the worse bit, I should know as it happend twice in my car!!
Make sure you torque the tensioner to only 20nm, I know it's awkward to get to, but it will fail if you don't!!
The actual job it self is pretty easy, just time consuming....

Got the cam box bolt on as well - just never got a photo. Thur night never done any work, hopefully tonight finish of a few wee bits , then get the new water pump and timing done.

Never done any bodywork stuff before but gave it a try and see how it goes
