I'm not sure about the leather in the Polo Si, but certainly in the new Golf GTI it was leatherette. It was in the demonstrator I drove a couple of years ago and it felt plastic and cheap, especially compared to leather in the Mk5 Polo GTI's (which is real). Plus the tartan seats are way cooler than big number 1's

The Leather Sports Recaro's in the MK5 R32 which are a £2395 extra contain false leather.

You could get them retrimmed in a high quality genuine leather for less than that :?

Hmmm. You know, the car is anything between £1500-2000 cheaper without the leather! Think that settles it really. I've gone four years with my 6n2 Polo without having leather so whats a couple more hey?

There appears to be a 3-door silver bird with cloth upholstery at the dealership in Stoke... the website is not very up to date though and many of these cars have been sold.

Whilst browsing the list, I discovered a GTI in shadow blue, a colour that I did not know the car was available in! Don't want it though, looks naff :P

So... three door Polo GTI in silver bird is the requirement. I could be tempted by reflex silver for the right price but the limited silver bird hue is much nicer! One thing for certain, I don't want a black one

Red is actually quite tempting, but I'm worried that the paint may fade after a time and not look so good. Is this accurate or a total myth now-a-days?

Cheers

The red paint won't really fade unless it's a Vauxhall lol. I think the new Polo GTI's look best in White, followed by Reflex Silver

I wouldn't worry about the red and fading issue. Mine still looks good, and I'm not one of these people who spends weekends "detailing".

I'd second the white idea too. Both the new Golf and Polo GTi's look great in white with a few choice modifications.

Fair enough really Si, i was getting the hint when we were looking at that black new GTi at the show and shine at VW Festival

It would be good buy, no doubt...Although for tuning potential and lower running costs...any tempting to the vRS? you can still pick good models up that have the leather option from a few years ago AND xenons...although getting very tough to find!

Sorry for trying to stray you from the polo! lol

Cheers Chris!

I've got my heart pretty much set on a silver Polo GTI turbo though :D

Don't fancy a diesel :P and prefer the more up-to-date interior of the Polo!

Now the question is will I end up with a reflex silver or a silver bird silver Polo? There are a lot more reflex silver cars available and my dealership give me the impression there would be more movement on a reflex silver car's price as they are touting the rarity of the silver bird :?

Cheers

I noticed your in Shrewsbury. If you can avoid Inchcape. They're a cheeky bunch, and lied to me quite a lot when I bought my last car from them (a Mk5 Golf GTI with DSG). Wasn't impressed, just too many mess ups.

They've not been to bad in my experience so far...

Although today when I went in and spoke to a guy, he tried to sell me a brand new Polo GTI (at £15022 plus £350 for paint) on PCP when I had gone in to speak about used cars

Oh well. Test drove a silver bird 5-door Polo with leather and winter pack plus rear parking sensors. Nice, but too many doors and too many £££s!

UPDATE: went to Lakeside VW in Stoke today and looked at a silverbird 3-door with cloth and no extras. Tidy little car and a good drive but I've done my maths and sadly I can't afford it at this point in time, even though they knocked the price down a bit!

So it looks like I am keeping the 6n2 for a few months longer and will re-assess my position in the New Year. I'll still be swapping parts back to standard though, with the exception of the coilovers which will be staying on the car (sorry JPR). In doing this I can sell the Polo quicker, when the time comes to upgrade 8)

Need to get my winter rims out of the shed after all!

Cheers

White will be a chore to keep clean! Almost as much as black is!

Silverbird is where its at, I really like this colour and it is what I want on the new car. All in good time hey! Looks like my plans will be bumped back a couple of months whilst I sort out reverse-engineering the modifications on the Polo :)
