ipod connectivity

Post by nickpolo »

hi guys,

any of you know how the iPod Connectivity kit that VW offer for the current polo works?

£155.00 RRP
Part No. 1K0051444

I know it replicates the CD changes, just want to know if it will plug into the standard radio in our GTi? i know i would lose the CD changer functionality - as you do in the current model line up - just want to know if it is possible to plug this cable into my radio?

Thanks

It uses the line in for the changer, so yes should work and display the tracks etc (I believe you can control the ipod through the head unit).

I can get them alot cheaper then £155!!

Sorry mate, I mean you can, not I - Although last time I got a price for one is was £70odd + shipping. (Genuine VW).

EDIT - I can't seem to type today!! That was from VW Parts, using my Club Polo discount :D

They are £85 from VW. If you have BETA, GAMMA, DELTA, or the RCD range of HUs, they plug straight in replacing the CD changer if you have it.

The only thing you have to change is that you have to connect the earth wire from the iPod adapter into the ground on the radio - just a cut and crimp or a splice job nothing too serious!

Its an easy fit, and is certainly not worth the £75 that VW charge!!!

I should know i work there :D

Hope this helps you dude!
