when i say other stuff = couple of pens ,screwdriver and a few cds

and a code reader with booklet

i guess you cant do stuff like re-align the throttle body, reset steering wheel center point and things like that on the readers?
i have to say that would be pretty cool if you could.

how do they both work?

are they both little boxes that plug into the port on the car and purely just give you a code which you then co-ordinate to a fault?

How much do they both cost?

this is the one i have just bought so i can read newer cars with can-bus =

you can just read fault codes etc and cannot adjust anything

i have vagcom and a code reader and hardly ever use vagcom

vagcom is very good for most things - but the code readers are alot faster, easy to use, and you can keep it all in your glovebox ( you get a storage bag too)

And what difference does this have to vagcom?

Its quicker, but on the downside can only clear faults. Not code keys, adjust headlights, throttle body alignement etcetc

VAGCOM is software - a laptop is required for it

Licence is about Â£80 quid for it

ahh, what about the cable? where you suppose to get the software from?
