so which one is the best to purchase? vagcom or the other one?
how do they both work?
are they both little boxes that plug into the port on the car and purely just give you a code which you then co-ordinate to a fault?
How much do they both cost?
sorry bout all the questions but they both look quite interesting and useful!

soz for the late reply but
http://www.alpha-bid.com/product36.html
i also bought the adaptor to use it on obd1 style cars
vagcom is very good for most things - but the code readers are alot faster, easy to use, and you can keep it all in your glovebox ( you get a storage bag too)
^mine^ cost £36 delivered with the obd1 adaptor
this is the one i have just bought so i can read newer cars with can-bus =NAZPOLOGTI wrote:To ceedubya, what was the name of the device you got? and roughly how much does it cost?...sounds pretty good to me!...thanks alot

you can just read fault codes etc and cannot adjust anythingi guess you cant do stuff like re-align the throttle body, reset steering wheel center point and things like that on the readers?
i have to say that would be pretty cool if you could.
i have vagcom and a code reader and hardly ever use vagcomso which one is the best to purchase? vagcom or the other one?

so this one is a little box with an adaptor that plugs into the socket underneath the ash tray, and will read out any fault codes which you then look up to find out whats wrong?
sounds good, may invest!!!
And what difference does this have to vagcom?
