Getting cold feet on major mods for the polo...

Post by Bryony84 »

I've been thinking recently about what I want to achieve with the Polo over the winter, I've owned her for a year now and got her nearly looking how I want her, but there are some more major mods I've thought about.

These include smoothed bumpers, a remap and an induction kit.

I can't decide whether I want to get all that done, which would be a serious investment and probably mean I'd be keeping the car for quite a while, or just keep her clean and tidy and sell up in the new year. Eventually I want something bigger, probably a golf so I'm not sure about doing mods which are harder to reverse.

I would suggest just sorting the suspension and then leaving it as is Bryony. Will you really be that much happier once you've spent what would be getting on for another £1k on the modifications listed.

There is very little to gain from a remap/induction kit for the outlay.

Save the remap for the 1.8T (I am assuming this is what you would progress to) as it needs it and is actually worth the money.

This is exactly what i was thinking, think i'll just do the suspension to a sensible height, tidy up the door handles and boot handle and then sell up and buy the golf. Will be a mark 4 either 1.8T anni or V6 4mo.

I'm putting everything on hold with mine now to save for a second car (can't face getting rid of the Polo just yet)

I'll be going for 2.0 turbo power with 240bhp 8) but not VW

I get that feeling now and again. I'm wanting at least 140bhp out of my car before I'm happy, also got to keep the bodywork mint and service it and sort out the handling. Always think about just getting a different car but I couldn't buy anything much better

Si's right.

I'm going with an Astra VXR next which will have the stage 3 package from VXR Performance fitted at some stage taking it to 300bhp+ 8)

Should hopefully be mid next year.

 I know, I'm the most indecisive person in the world when it comes to what I want.

I've settled on the VXR though, especially because I get discount from Vauxhall 8)

Alex, I'll be going for Arden Blue.

Alex, pretty much decided that I am going to sell up now, only question is when. I'm fairly sure I know what car I want to I guess its a question of finding a good example in colour/finish etc that I want. This one is going to be a major project car so it needs to be perfect!
