Relay chattering

Hi All
I have an annoying problem with a relay chattering, mainly when I brake or corner. Seems to be coming from the relay panel, but I can't feel which one it is . The car is a '99 SDi saloon.
Anyone had this ?

Just wondered if this might be the brake pedal itself creaking, anyone had this ?

Well... My clutch pedal creaks, but it's easily recognisable as a 'creaking old door sound'. Relay chattering sounds different I believe. Perhaps there's a fault code to be found? (Using VAG-Com)

I may try lubricating the pedal bushes tomorrow and checking pedal security. It's starting to drive me nuts...

Yep, it's something I need to do too. Maybe next week eh.

Anyway. If you take the car in for a service (in the future) you may want to report the chattering anyway, and ask them to check for faults/faultcodes, just to be on the safe side.

While we're on the subject, does anyone have a list of fault codes and is there a way of accessing the ecu to extract them.
I know that on a Vauxhall it is easy to do with a paperclip by shorting out the right contacts and reading the codes as a sequence of flashes by the engine management light ?

I had this on my MK2 Golf GTi

It was the fuel pump relay. Dry joint on the solder. Re-soldered it and it was fine. With it being the fuel pump relay it would cause the car to jerk/cut out under braking/cornering.

You could remove the relays 1 by 1 and shake/open them up

Does anything stop working when it happens - wipers, indicators etc

No, everything works as it should but I have found that it gets worse the longer I drive the car, so it may be a dry joint, I'm thinking temperature resistance.
My latest thought was the 109 relay, i.e. the one that works the engine electronics. Maybe I'll pull that one.
My car is a diesel so no fuel relay so it can't be that one, at least I don't think so.

It was the sodding lights on buzzer.
