cassette player removal

am wanting to take out the standard cassette player from my gti, its doing my head it with its sweaty traffic updates!!:@

anyone know of a d.i.y post or anything on how i can it out??

The unit can be removed with the aid of removal keys. But if you don't have the removal keys to hand then many have used a cut up old credit card to do the same job. There are two thin vertical slots in the gamma unit to insert your "removal keys" into in order to lift the unit out.

nah i have dont have the "removal keys" i dont think, but ill go and have a scan of where i can put my cut up credit card

You can get the keys from most car audio retailers and Ebay. Mine were only 99p :)

You can turn them off you know :P

Cut up top up card will work - needs to be angled. Liike 3 mm at one end up to 5mm at the other - push in slots and then pull it out carefully via the tape slot. As they wont lock in, it makes it a little more difficult to remove unfortuntately :(

or you can bend the little storage bit and pull it out, then the head unit can be lifted up and pulled out...nice trick for thieves to know

I bought a pair of removal keys from eBay for a couple of quid. Last time I saw them they were with olop_chris ha ha!!

I take it that was meant to be clever, that was a rather unfortunate time to make a typo.

it's not exactly a closely guarded secret that is difficult to work out.

a thief would get your headunit one way or another anyway if they wanted to, might as well tell them a way that causes no additional damage
