Yes - another 'thinking of selling' thread!

Post by Bryony84 »

Right, after a few posts on here and a chat with some people at no rice, I've decided not to do any more mods to the Polo, I'm going to raise her slightly to make her more driveable and then sell her. Can anyone give me an idea of how much to ask?

2000 Polo GTI in Flash Red
sitting at about 68k
Cloth interior
Climate Control
3 Door
Cambelt done at 45k by previous owner
Pedal box recall done
Gearbox reconditioned 6 months ago (this is on a 12 month warrenty)
Good service history, most services done by dealers, last service (60k) done by VW specialists.
MOT til February 08, Tax due Feb 08.

Mods:

Lowered (will be about 40-50mm, still have the original suspension so will include this with the sale)
black tinted rear lights (although I still have the standard red ones and may replace these and sell the tinted ones)
K&N air filter
15" Borbet A wheels with black centers in good condition and wrapped in Toyo proxies all round.
Black front badge and black/colour coded rear badge.
Stubby aerial
Suglasses holder on drivers side
Colour coded GTI splitter (may respray this or just replace it with a standard black one that I have in the garage).

What do you think everyone?

I'm not sure on how much to ask for but I would advise putting it back to standard and selling the mods on here. Mods are a personal thing and in some peoples minds mods = the car has been abused or ragged. Plus you will probably end up geting more £££'S in the end.

I used to agree with that, but I think alot more people are becoming aware of enthusiasts & the difference between them & chav's. So you could get alot more interest as it is, i'd stick it on pistonheads

I can put the suspension, lights and splitter back to standard if I have a buyer who would prefer that, however I do not have any standard GTI wheels and would prefer not to have to go through all the hassle that swapping my wheels would most likely be.

The car I am looking for will preferably be lowered already as I know it is a mod that I would do anyway, so I will probably advertise the Polo with mods but with the possibility of putting certain parts back to standard as mentioned above.

That sounds like the best way Bryony, that way you're advertising to a wider band of people :D
