what a bunch of tawts!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now thats over with, i pulled outta my drive this morning and i was followed from my door step all the to the petrol garage bout 2&half miles from my house when the deicided to tug me,
they first pulled the plates as they were german so i said fair enough ill change them now on the spot then they said my car was too low for everyday use

i asked why and no answer.
then they checked my details and it came up i was i a RTA in june and fleed the scene( i think i would remember if i was plus i was in miami) and i had no driving licence,tax or insurance well that was impossibile as the car is taxed i had my licence in my wallet and insurance doc in my bag along with MOT doc. after making me late for work i didnt even get a sorry for there mistakes god bless the met police

I've not been pulled over for any Random Checks - seems to have happened to everyone I know regardless of age, income, etc.

How does being too low have anything to do with them?

It doesnt make the car dangerous....hell..check out a westfield and your arse is practically on the floor.... so whats the deal?

I think the "low-ness" question maybe to due with the police now being able to check if the insurance lists a vehicle as being modified or not.

I hope they can check, to finally sort the people out not declaring mods!

Not sure how they can it's too low for everyday use though? If you can drive the car it's fine in my eyes.

Long story why but don't think I don't want to cos believe me the way my last polo ended up, I weren't too happy.

Unless they came up with a height restriction there's no way of making 'too low' a fact. For instance on who's judgement is the car too low? I might deem my car ok whereas someone elses opinion would be that it isn't. Thats just a difference of opinion. I did hear years ago that if your car will damage the road surface ie. scrape against bumps then it is illegal as you are damaging property. This is clear with my car seeing I got scrapes along the petrol tank but it still passed MOT.

When I got my MOT done the man said none of the body should touch the tyres (obvious) and that there should be atleast 5mm gap between tyre and arch (not quite sure about this one).

In my last car I had 5 in it (granted there was 1 bouncer and 2 big lads included) and the Police said I was overloaded to which I said "5 seatbelts 5 people" then he asked why it was so low then and I said "Cos Ive lowered it" he thought I was being cocky ad asked why I stunk of beer so I said "cos I work in a bar?"

This was round about the time I was getting pulled 3 times a week though.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your car can be deemed to low, And would be classed as dangerous if so.

The reason being if you have a car lowered and your driving along a country road with a few people in the car, and you have to break sharply, then there is a far higher risk of the wheels contacting the body work and in turn reducing the control you have over a car.

Police checking against insurance if your car modifications are declared, is unenforceable.

Reason being, Not all insurance companies require you to declare all mods. for example Morethan Insurance, are only interested in mods that increase acceleration and top speed.

So lowering my car was not declared with my insurance.

well tbh my car aint that low but thats me saying that 65 or a couple mm more. all i can say is monday morning 7.30 end of there shift why not just get one more in before we clock off there must have been 3 or 4 motors driving pass with either no tax, insureance, or licence and they pull a clean tidy well looked after car. will never understand the law.

You're not quite right there I am afraid.

Whilst yes, if your insurance company state that you are still valid with certain mods undeclared, it is down to the individual company. Generally a quick phone call to the insurance company will confirm what the status is, if a cop tells them that the car is visibilly lower than standard or alloys are not what they have declared then the insurance policy is invalid if the insurance company require declaration. Then under police powers the car can be seized and impounded until insurance is secured against the vehicle and the release fee is paid.

If the policy is made invalid by something then it is enforcable, and if your driving a car with undeclared mods and the company require them to be declared you are driving without insurance. Cue your car going on the back of a low loader and you being summonsed or receiving a 6point/Â£200 FPN.
