Hello
Having a wee prob will the GTI. Driving along in 1st change to 2nd - when i change to 2nd im at 2k revs, the car kinda jitters and theres like a loss of power, then it comes back and starts going again... anyone any ideas - ill vag com it 2morro, could it be a misfire ? if so how do i check!

With use, the throttle body butterfly valve can move out of alignment.
This can cause EPC lights, juddery accelleration, uncontrollable idling, stalling, clutch down issues, cutouts. All manner of issues. Some similar to that of the temperature sender.
First point of call in my book is throttle body alignment - it fixed mine and my mates the other day and they both run much much better now.
Anyhow, you can realign the throttle body in VAG COM (youll need a registered copy, or one that has been patched in one way or another to do this)

Its a very simple adjustment - just need to make sure the throttle body is nice and clean with a can of carb cleaner first - that can cause hell if its filthy also!!

The above is specifically for the GTI, as its a drive by wire engine. Other setups are here:Drive-by-Wire (DBW) Engines using KW-1281
(These are engines WITHOUT a physical cable between the accelerator and the throttle. Check to see if the engine speaks KW-1281 by looking in the top left of the Open Controller Screen Some examples of KW-1281 engine controllers are 2000+ Golf/GTI/Jetta/New Beetle/Audi TT 1.8T)
Turn the key on but do not start the car.

[01 - Engine]
[Measuring Blocks - 08]
Enter Group 060
[Go!]
[Switch to basic settings]
Once you do this you will see the top right display say ADP RUN. The TB adaptation is being done as soon as you switch to basic settings. You will see the values change and hear the TB cycle for the first few seconds then it will stop. Leave it in Basic Settings for about 30 seconds.
[Switch to Meas. Blocks] button and you're all set.
Be sure not to touch the accelerator and make sure the engine is NOT running when you do this!

my gti was doing this too i spent £50 on new vw red leads new plugs oil and filter, and it was still happening. so i unplugged the throttle body connector for 30 mins then reconnected and drove sensibly for 10 miles and boy you could feel the difference after 10 miles it was like someone flicked a switch and everything was great. i suggest you drive 10 miles on a motorway to get best out of this as stop starts are no good for resetting the throttle body. but you have to be sensible with the gear changes or else it wont work.
