Ultimate Dubs 2008

Post by Si_GTi »

Well as you might know by know if you have ever been to Ultimate Dubs, you have to get sn early start on this one as space is limited and Club Stand spots fill up fast!!

Ultimate Dubs 2008 is going to be held on Sunday March 9th and is really the start of next year's show season (with possibly the exception of Dubfreeze in Stafford but that one is more trade-based IMO).

I really would like to going on this one and gauge interest. For this next year I would like to arrange an indoor stand which can take up to five cars.

Last time out I had to ring/text/msn round people at pretty much the last minute to get the numbers sorted, hopefully I won't have to do that for the 2008 event...

If on an indoor stand, you gain free access to the rest of the show  so that has to be worth something!

If interest is sufficiently high we could arrange a second stand outside for up to six cars.

I know from this year's event that a good few of you are likely to make the trip so please, come and represent your club! 8)

Yes, I know the show is six months away but its only a few weeks now before the organisers start to plan for the 2008 show so I'll revisit this thread every few weeks until it gets time to really get on and sort something out (mid-October into November).

More information soon - put a date in your diaries to keep free - Sunday March 9th!!

Cheers

I'd like to come to this, I was at the last one but wasn't on the stand. Not sure what will have been done to the car by then as it depends on cash-flow but hopefully the bumpers will have been smoothed by then!

Si, I'll definantly be there like this year!

I dont know exactly where I stand by brining the fabia though? :S

But If im welcomed indoors, that would be great! because it was a right rip off to get inside last time!!

Anyways, let me know if I can or not...

I think due to the lack of changes with cars...UK-POLOS.net should re-think the forum name to welcome us all

Just so you all know, I believe that to be on a stand inside, you have take your car in by (I think?) 5:00 on the Saturday. This may not be a problem for some of you, but it does mean having to stay in the hotel on the Saturday night, next to the International Centre, which I imagine will fill up fairly early if everyone has to.

You also have to make sure your patrol tank is almost empty - for the Health and Safety muppets

A mate of mine was supposed to be on the Golf GTI Generations display at Ultimate 2006 (which was the main advertised feature), but was turned away as he had too much petrol. The display was subsequently missing a MK3 GTI! :?
They are extremely strict about this, and remember hearing stories of people at this years show having to blast up and down the M54 to try and burn off some fuel to be allowed in :x

Now I don't know if it will be the same as the last 2 years, but that is what has happened in the past.

Yeah you're right about the petrol side of things....It's quite silly but never mind.

Would take me a good few days to burn off the Diesel!

Blimey this is good - last year it was a mission to get numbers but you all seem quite eager now ha ha :D

I would like an indoor stand this time around. Last year we had an outside stand, the year before that no stand. Its the next logical progression for uk-polos.net!

We could have both an inside and an outside stand if there is sufficient interest? Let me know your thoughts!

Spot on about both accomodation and fuel levels, thanks Gra!

I'm fortunate enough to live in nearby Shrewsbury and can dump my car at the TIC and go home for the night, but for anyone travelling a fair distance, please be aware that hotels fill up fast!

Cheers
