Disable ABS ?

Post by sorted »

Alright!

Got a loud squeek from my GTI passenger side - and for the life of me cant get it away.

Things I have done:

1. A front wheel bearing
2. Caliper changed
3. New flexi
4. Tightened all the nuts up around the area.

Whats happening is:

I take the 2 front wheels off, and jack it up. Put it in gear and let it drive. Then it seems as if the brakes are jamming on then off then on - cause this weird noise and a banging sorta noise. The last thing it was said was it must be the flexi (braided hoses were on) so changed back to my old flexi hose - still got the problem say thing happening - it seems though as if the ABS is coming on as the control box is making a noise at the same tiem - so to try see if it is this - can u disable the abs the now, anyone any other ideas what could be up - its holding the car back when jacked up but when driving i dont really feel any diffrence - just a a very loud squeek!!

Could it be that your disks are warped? Just a guess though. It sounds like you're having a nightmare with it being honest, I hope you get it sorted.

To disable ABS, pull your backseat up and you will find two connectors one on the right, one on the left, pull one of them out. This will cause an ABS sensor fault, the light will come on and ABS will be disabled.
I found this by JWC on the fourm - so will try that.

Mate i am, ive had it 6months, spent a fortune on it. Thinking of selling ti after Xmas - getting sick to the back teeth with things going wrong. Its like they are in a que

To disable the ABS. Try disconnecting one of the ABS/speed sensors.
