There is someone called NavSK on Clubpolo, I think. He has a gti engine in his MK5 Polo and has strapped a turbo on it. He's gone through so many different types of gearboxes.[quote]

Nav is a good mate of mine, he over boosted and blew the gbox 1st time now ive lost count of how many hes gone through, i'm in stages of supercharging mine but im starting to relise its not gonna be worth it. in all fairness your better either putting a 20v T in or buying a turbo'd car its gonna be a hell loud cheaper and more reliable.

Have any of you guys tried a Lupo GTI 6 speed engine transplant to get a reliable box?

Should be quite straight forward in theory.

The geaerboxes are different. The Polo GTI gearbox is cable driven wheras the Lupo GTI is hydraulic.

Before i sold my Gti i spent ages reseaching turbo's/ superchargers throttle bodys etc and it worked out so much because unless your in the know its going to cost s**t loads in custom parts!!

1.8t is the easiest way to up the power but come on is it worth all the money?? maybe if your never going to sell the car??

The amount i spent on my Gti i could have bought an R32 or if i really wanted to go fast an evo or something insane!!

Swings and round abouts but i think the Gti will criple without proper custom gearbox parts, clutch!

I'm starting to have a long hard think about things. I'd love a 160bhp 6N2 Polo GTI, but the money you'd have to spend would be heaps and you'd have to keep the car for ages to make it worthwhile. Thinking whether to sell the car in a year or so, but I like it so much still

I know the boxes are different but I asked if anyone thought about a complete engine transplant with box out of a Lupo GTI and into a Polo GTI

I wish I had more mid range, was struggling to keep up with a Mondeo diesel today. Would of had to drop down a gear

christ...how many times....the lupo box will NOT fit a polo engine!!!

yes mike i think a lupo engine would be a good idea to put in the polo...not sure if its a straight swap?

Sadly I dont think it is a straight swap...You would most likley end up needing the Lupo front subframe, possibly the lupo (Or custom) half shafts and various other crazy parts..

Deffinately doable, but at a price
