Always worth a check..

Post by Mouse_GTI »

Recently I thought I've been loosing power ever so slightly. Thought I was just imagining things so just ignored it. Went to take out my BMC today to clean it and noticed my ducting had a 3cm tear on it. The tear was exactly where it had been resting on the brake fluid tank. Must of been all the heat and friction. Taped it up so hopefully it is ok, don't want to have to buy another air feed. My BMC is absolutely filthy too, the amount of dead flies and dirt in it was shocking. Hopefully the car runs a bit better tomorrow. I just did the oil the other day too and the whole bolt that goes into the engine block came out with the bloody air filter

So it's always worth a quick check round the engine bay to solve little problems :D

Did you use something like the K&N filter cleaner fluid stuff? :)

I want to properly sort my air feed out in the same sort of manner that tomo87 has, it looks great with the custom pipework 8)

I bought Pipercross cleaning fluid as it was the cheapest. Rinse your filter, then spray on the cleaning fluid, leave it to soak, rinse off dirty and leave to air dry overnight, then lubricate 8)

Wouldn't mind some decent tubing in the future to make the bay look better
