Should I sell my car

Post by Mouse_GTI »

With so many people selling their GTI's maybe I should do the same...because this is on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-Alfa-Romeo-G ... dZViewItem

One of #150, glorious sounding V6, those looks and great handling for a front wheeler. Tempting to say the least! (Until it breaks down  )

lovely car, great engine but you will have to budget so much for the breaking down, you may as well go and get a ricer like a skyline and pay the same kind of servicing costs!

I'd avoid like the plague quite frankly.

I've had first hand experience of a 3.0 GTV, through the MD of my father's company who (foolishly) has owned two of them.

Yes they do sound great and the performance is impressive. However the issue of unreliability is not just one of those urban myth, they really are that bad. Both of his GTVs suffered electrical problems, brake problems, loose interior trim etc etc.

On top of that, I was never convinced by the handling with that big V6 in the front end in a car with such a short wheelbase.

What?! Can someone translate that?

And as for the Alfa, after all your trouble with the GTi, wouldnt you prefer something with at least some chance of reliability!!

not just that but you gotta remember the more expensive the car was new the higher the servicing & repairs..if you are going to go down this route why not go for an e30 m3, rare...beauty and a classic! and it wont break down as frequently!

Some Wideboy BBS RS's on one of these and you are on a winner!
