Same gear change system as my Lupo, Clutch cable rather than the silly fluid clutch in a Lupo GTI, cheaper price and has allowed me to use a gearbox from a 1.4 16v 75bhp engine.

It was nearly three years ago when I started this, so my figures are probably well out, but at a rough guess.
Throttle bodies, linkages and fuel rail were around £500
Inlet Spacer plate was made by a friend at a cost of the tools needed, and my supplier gave me the Alu for free.
Mega Squirt ECU was £250+
Wide band lamda Probe and controller was around £180

Its at one of my suppliers garage up in Scotland, just come up for a few days to get cracked on with some.
Hes painting the car and rebuilding the rest of what I cant get done by Friday.
Also wiring a mapping to do yet, so Im expecting a total cost of £2500 including the respray plus the parts I've already paid out for.

Still loads of work left to do!

looks good bud, isnt the 1.4 gearbox even more likely to go pop than the standard gti one?? if not why havent people done this to their gti's previous to stop the issue?

I had a 17'000 engine out of a girlys shopping car, chances are its not been abused as much as a Polo GTI box will have.
Its the same gearbox, only the ratios are the same, and dont forget the Lupo Sport 1.4 100bhp uses the same gearbox as a Polo GTI and they fail also so I dont think its the power thats the problem, its just a rubbish gearbox.
Once it fails I'll get a LSD fitted and rebuilt using solid components.
Hopfully I'll get a year out of it before hand.

I remember when you started this Andy, stripping and pulling things out quite quickly as i remember.

It must take a lot of dedication. 2 kids, a wedding/wife down the road, so well done for staying committed and getting it this far, hopefully it'll be on the road in the not too distant future........

Sorry for the late reply, took a while to find the invoice.
Was bought from M-Tech Automotive in Wiltshire.
Including delivery cost £250 completly built, with loom and VW base map.
