Seen a few people with the hella leds in standard red mk5 lights... did they take the red lense off then fit the LEDs - or did they do it from the back (drilling etc?)

I'm not saying you have to put it in the oven for a day, just long enough to get the glue to unbond, I know a few people who have taken their headlights apart that way with no problem
The lad I know who did it cut the brake light segment out from the back with a Dremel.
I don't think the oven will work - afaik they're not glued. Just a transparent layer of plastic on top of a red/white/black layer of plastic, hard to explain

I see... i had a set of Hella lights - that i took the LEDS out. I tried these in the oven last night - and i couldnt get them split atal - so it looks like it might have to be from the back + glue
2morro going to try glue the LEDS to the inside of the lens and see if that makes them come out more as DOTs rather than just like a bulb but much brighter !!
The problem with rear lights is theyre full of little reflective and refractive parts to ensure a bright and consistent light - unless these LEDS are really close to the front of the lens (like you say), you wont get the pattern your after.
