Pictures not being shown in guide threads

Im a noob here and didnt know were to post this. So i though here would be the best place as it would probs get the most exposure.

the thread that im talking about in question is, this one:

I take it the pictures arent being hosted any more hence why they are not being shown?

Also when you want to click on the guides nearer the bottom and try and open the pdf file with them in, its says it forbiden

Why is this?

Personally i think this could potentialy be a great guide for noobs, such as myself with a 9N polo but at the minute there just seems to be a lack of information

If the Admin/Mods could give some possible reasoning behind this that would be great .

Most of the old .pdf files were written by members that have came and gone. The files were probably deleted off their servers a while ago I'm afraid

Some people must have them saved on their computers though. An idea someone had a while back was to start a UK-P knowledge bank as it were. Or even if the .pdf's were hosted on someone's server, it could be posted on the relevant thread.

Probably because the thread is 4 years old and they've not bothered to update the thread as they've left the forum?

So is it a case that these type of threads are not placed on a "main server" as such so that weather the people come or go the information still stays?

Yeah, the files were hosted on the members' private servers. If they were all kept in one place, it'd make things much easier for newbies, and it should increase the amount of people coming over here. Maybe even a UK-P wiki

It would be like Wikipedia, but solely for Polos. I kinda stole the idea from CP, but they haven't bothered doing anything about theirs yet.

I've managed to recover a couple of old .pdf's from the past from Speedlaw's old website for the 6N guides. I'm sure there will be more to come, if someone wants to donate some hosting space

It's a shame to let good threads go. The good thing about here is old threads are kept.

I like the wiki idea. I think the pro's outweigh the con's on that

I've had a look in my POLO folder, I have a few pdfs too. Again though no where to host them

Oh right Ollie, tbh that sounds like a good idea.

But to make it worth while alot of people from across the forum spectrum would have to contribute/remake DIY guides etc to make it worth while surely?

i wish i had my old HardDrive, i had loads of the pdf files and that from before i had my GTi, they got deleted tho:(, i've got loads and loads of pictures of cars engines and interiors from here if you ever need them ollie, just give me a shout
