Climatronic and air-con?

Post by tegwin »

Im trying to figure out the climatronic system on my polo...

It seems to turn on the AC compressor pretty much all the time which is a pain in the arse cause it uses a fair bit of power...

Is it possible to just have the fan blowing in air from outisde the car without heating or cooling it?

I think that using the ECON button turns off the compressor.

Check the manual though as that should tell you.

ECON = no air con
AUTO = air con on if needed to regulate the temperature
no "ECON" or "AUTO" displayed = air con on

so having the ECON function on will just use the climatronic as a normal heater without draining the engine power that it normally does? Is that right?

Tis indeed a mamoth job....And IMHO, the climate control is simply a pain in the arse!

I would much rather have the manual controls!

Upgrade to climatronic requires sensors in the car and other things

So if i have ECON on and have it set to High I'll get hot air without the aircon on yeah?

I have a question about the Climatronic myself. Even when not to AUTO, the fan speed seems to change of its own accord from time to time. Sometime it also feels that more air is being directed to a certain area, when the air direction buttons aren't set to any specific direction. Confusing!

I'm sure even the economy mode still tries to keep to the temp you've set but it just uses unconditioned air and a heater... so would explain why the blow changes but no idea about the direction thing?
