Problems please help

Post by dantheram »

Ok, Firstly my car smells of eggs when i turn on the climate control and secondly i dented the driver side front wheel arch its only a small ding but the paint is scratched and i need it fixed.

Regarding the smell any ideas as to what it is?

With the dent can anyone recommend a place near coventry or derby to get it fixed?

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Dan.

To get rid of the eggy smell all you need to do it clean the air conditioning. Wasn't the warmest summer this year so i bet it was hardly used. If you don't use your air con bacteria builds up and causes that funny smell. Easy to fix, halfords sell an air con cleaner, if you got to a superstore they can check to see if you need to top the gas up as well for free.

As for the dent I work in a body shop in nottingham, should be able to sort it out for you.

Cheers,

i had the same problem i took it to a local air conditioning company and they basically said the stuff you buy from halfords is a gimmic and that it doesnt solve the problem and that its like a glorified air freshner.
he gave me half a can of "frionett germ" had a look its about £15 per 500ml can and is what they use to clean industrial refrigeration and air con units. it kills germicdal, fungicidal and virucidal bacteria which cause the smell.
what u need to do is remove the pollen filter and turn the a/c on full and just spray the can for about 10 secs into the hole. and that hits all the components of the unit. i should imagine it would work with any disinfectant spray.
not had the cat p*ss smell ever since!
