Any PS3 owners on here?

Post by CymruPolo »

I'm getting a PS3 for Christmas (yes, I do feel like a kid  ), and just wondering if there's anyone on here that already has one?

Yeah I got one of the 60GB ones before they sold out (although it seems some places still have them).

I did spend quite a while weighing up between the PS3 and the Xbox 360. But I've always had Playstations, and given the possible reliability issues with the 360 I stuck to Sony, and haven't regretted it.

It looks great, easy to setup and get online, the Playstation Store has a relatively good range of downloads and there's the added bonus of the Blu-Ray player.

To be honest I'm not hugely thrilled with the choice of games currently. However I'm waiting for GT5 and GTA IV which should make it more worthwhile.

Yeh, I just managed to get a 60GB one too! :) Luckily I'd read on the internet that they'd been discontinued and noticed they were sold out everywhere so I told my mum and she managed to get one from Woolworths about a month ago.

I'll be getting Motorstorm and F1 with it, but I've already bought Assassins Creed and Call Of Duty 4

Is the online stuff easy to get to grips with?

Online stuff is really simple, I hooked mine up using the wi-fi and it took probably only 5 minutes if that.

Only game I've played online yet is Skate, but that works well. I have got Motorstorm but haven't got round to playing it online. Not a bad game in itself offline actually, and there's a lot of additional stuff to be downloaded for it too from the Playstation Store.

Am I right in thinking there's a GT5 demo available for download?

Yup you can download GT HD.

Only one track, but a good selection of cars including the Ferrari 599. And you can compare your lap times against other people online too.

I got one a couple of months ago when the price dropped and the 40GB model came out, although I still got the 60GB :P

I love it. Only got Motorstorm, Resistance and Fifa08 at the moment (games that came with it). Only played Motorstorm once, which was online against a mate. Currently working through Resistance story mode, but regularly play online (only against a mate though, everyone else online must play loads as I usually get my ass wooped!!! )

Fifa I still play regularly too, both on and offline.

The Mrs has got me Need for Speed Pro Street for crimbo, but gotta wait till then to get it

I started this thread a while ago but it didn't get much interest

Do none of you have Pro Evo 2008?

PES >>> FIFA

I'm looking forward to playing online and to connecting it to my HD TV. A mate of mine's got one but he's yet to connect it via HDMI so I told him to get it sorted cos he's be missing out!

Nar, Fifa all the way for me. I think I've had almost everyone since 1999.

I did get the last Pro Evo last year, but didn't think much of it at all. The major downfall for me was the lack of real teams. I like to work through the game with Villa, and teams and players I know. Just couldn't get on with playing with West Bromwich United, or whatever it was. There was only so many times I could play International games too.

Also heard that Pro Evo 2008 was a bit cack. Mate of mine had it, said it was really slow, and went straight back to Fifa  I read reviews that its full of bugs that make freeze up and stutter when playing it, and online play was just painfull
