i'm not telling what they are yet though :P
(only alex knows :P )

but what is the best tire size to go for?

the rims are 16" 6.5j.

i was after a bit of stretch, but not alot.

you won't get stretch on 6.5 unless you have about 155 tyres!

Standard size would be 205/45 16.

some time next year.. as i can't afford 75 a tire :x

maybe with some christmas money :lol:

would 205/40/16 be ok?
lower profile i know but might look better :P

205/40 is a very low profile - it may also screw up the rolling radius and therefore the speedo :(

isn't 205 40 more expensive?

205 40 16 is an inch less diameter than normal.

you could try 195 45 (or 50) 16?

just save up and get the correct ones, 205x45x16, i just got 4 goodyear eagle f1 gsd3's fitted valved and balanced to my gti wheels and that was £336 all in

pretty dam good i thought

i'll ask the price of some 205/45/16 fitted tomor.

so i should be looking at about 250 for them?

for some bloody tires eh.. :cry:

don't be so cheap! they're the most important thing connecting you to the road and should last for 15k of driving. 1.6p per mile!

i bought 4xNankang NS-2 tyres from www.mytyres.co.uk and i was very impressed with them!
they were on the car for about 8 months and when i took them off, there was hardly any wear at all it seemed!

my mate runs the same tyres on his mk2 ibiza 1.8t and uses them on track days as they are good cheap hard wearing tyres.
they are roughly £40 each in the 205/45/16 size.
