Just had the car in at VW there to check out the very bad grinding/knocking/scraping noise I was having on the passenger front side suspension of the car. This was happening over small bumps in the road and when turning left and right.
They said the problem was the droplinks (whatever they are) had snapped/cracked because of the Eibach coilovers. I've had the coilovers since march 07 so this was kinda surprising for me.
Anyway, my main query is, should I just let VW fix the droplinks for £85 or take it to another garage for aftermarker droplinks? (cheaper and stronger than VW ones?)

I'd be getting on the phone to Eibach - or email them to see what the proper fix should be. It could be that they had expected you to change some other bits when you fitted coilovers - they are the people in the best position to give you advice. The VW dealer will just do as you want but it would be stupid of him to give you any warranty on the repair as your car is now non standard. One thing about using cheaper or strnger droplinks, remember that these links fix to the strut so stronger ones might just rip the mounting point off! Could be that you just need some shorter links and that is where the Eibach "knowledge" would be useful. Maybe phone or go to StarPerformance for a bit of advice.
