SERVICE LIGHT STILL SAYING SERVICE DUE?? HELP PLEASE

Post by mickymunn »

Hi all my partner has an 03 1.9tdi sport and it was sent on longlife service.

Had it service about a month ago now and changed it over to the 10000 miles set services. About a week after the service she came home from work and told me the display is showing the spanner symbol and saying 600 miles to service. i then called garage back up and they told me they reset it and to nip it back in so they can check it on their computer.

They checked it and said they computer is showing all the right stuff and that it was reset after the service and reset it again for me.

Today girlfriend came home from work and its again showing they spanner and service in X amount of miles.

Can someone help or inform me of what is wrong? or why its doing this? What could cause it.

Hope its nothing expensive :( as the antiroll bar and bushes need replacing  and the heater dosent work properly  , so we dont need any more expense

Thanks

Mine does the same. posted here ages ago and no-one could help!

I have to reset it every 1000k miles. I have no idea why it's doing it.

It needs reset every 1000k miles - I think that you mean 1k miles or 1000 miles, anyway, if you are going to sort this out you really need to know exactly what is causing this and the only way to do that is to check all the relevant field values using something like VAG-COM. In variable servicing there is a maximum time and distance limit as well as the variable part that will normally over ride these safety limits, in fixed servicing the triggers or gates for the spanner should only be 10000 miles or 365 days.

Tis be a vag com jobby - reset is only a temporary fix with this problem

I changed my oil interval to 5k last week - it was fairly simple once i knew how to do it in vag com.
