HOW low can i go?? vw polo mk5

Post by polopowah »

hi
i was just wondering how low ppl have been able to go with coilovers on a mk5 2000 1.0litre, as i had a look at the rear bumper and im worried that the wheels are gonna touch im currently running a set of 16"s,
and how low will the front go?? bearing in mind the wheels have to turn lol

What tyres are you running?

If they're 195-40-16 you can drop it till the subframe gives off sparks, with minimal (if any) rubbing. Any larger tyre size and there's simply less room to drop it.

Well if you're planning on getting coilovers anyhow, you can simply fit the parts and then drop it to your desired height.

If there's any rubbing, either change the tyres to some smaller ones or raise it up a bit.

The great thing about coilovers is the flexibility IMO, right after the superior road holding performance.

What height you aiming for? Ãœber-tief? or 'moderatly low'?

im curently in 4X4 mode and at -60mm when im in show mode (which i drive around in for about a month after) i drop it about 120mm at the front about 100 at the rear
the problem with running at -120 is that the right hand drive shaft hits the sub frame.
im using KW V2`s and 195/45/15v
