Gearbox oil change in mine has made a huge difference - its cheap aswell. 15 quid for all the oil from GSF, and about 30 mins labour :)

gear box oil change also a good idea, (did it on my mk3 golf gti with notisable improvement to change smoothness) dont know which service interval its included in (if any) but most likely its never been done, and the way our gearboxes are all the care you can give em is best i suppose! do you know how much oil you need alex? got to do an oil and filter change at the weekend, may as well do this too while im under there! did you get the vw oem oil? or another make? :)

2.7L (strange amount i know!!) and its Fuchs I used. I use their lubricants for my engine oil and all that, and its very good quality indeed. Engine ticks over perfectly :)

ok thanks for that alex, do you need to change the bung/nut and seal washer thing like when you do the engine oil? is the drain just an allen bolt or something underneath the car/ easy to see access? is there aplastic cap on the top of the box for re-filling? (havnt been under there yet!

you used the bra yet? any pics of it on the car? bet it looks good against the red! (like my old golf)

Yeh when mines goes in for the service (a week today), i've asked him to change the gearbox oil, that and the clutch adjusted should sort things out nicely!!!

If i'm not mistaken the gearbox oil should be fully synthetic?

I hope it is because thats what my garage they were planning on changing it with!!

Just went out for a drive, the bite is slightly higher, but the gear changes dont feel any different.

However it's not doing it today its been fine.

Will have to see with the long journey on Sunday as to what it does.

I think with combination of this and the gearbox oil change it should improve

Fully synth gearbox oil is hard to find and rather expensive. I just replaced mine with good old high quality semi synth which works fine :)

Yeh i spent a while fiddling around trying to clamp the 13mm and unscrew the 10mm, but found out in the end i could just twist both with my bare hands?

this ok? Seemed a little easy considering I was adjusting my whole clutch!
